The Queens Workwear story
Born from a lockdown project and built with purpose.
Queens Workwear was founded during the COVID lockdown, sparked by a hands-on renovation of a retro NZ caravan. While covered in sawdust and immersed in DIY, we had countless conversations about the lack of well-fitting, stylish workwear designed specifically for women.
As more women step into trades, agriculture, DIY, and hands-on industries, we saw a clear opportunity: to empower our wahine toa by creating quality workwear that fits real women - of all shapes, sizes, and walks of life.
We know the challenges women face in industries that weren’t designed with us in mind. But we also know the power of women backing women. Queens Workwear is about more than just clothing - it’s about confidence, community, and helping reshape the spaces we step into.

Meet the team
Meet Becca – Co-founder of Queens Workwear
Originally from the UK, Becca has called New Zealand home for over seven years. Based mostly in Queenstown, she quickly fell in love with Aotearoa’s natural beauty - as a passionate skier, hiker, and outdoor enthusiast.
Like many women at the beginning of their trade journey, Becca discovered her skills through hands-on experience. While renovating caravans with Alex, she learned the ins and outs of building - everything from sanding, painting, and demolishing to confidently handling power tools. She’s also spent time working on a dairy farm, caring for animals and getting used to life in gumboots and grit.
Both experiences revealed a frustrating truth: quality, well-fitting workwear for women was hard to come by. That insight became part of the inspiration behind Queens Workwear.
Becca is excited to help grow a brand that supports women across Aotearoa - on farms, worksites, and wherever the mahi takes them.
Meet Alex – Co-founder of Queens Workwear
Alex’s journey in the trades started early - working as a teenager in a timber yard, milling wood and delivering firewood. It was there her appreciation for timber and hands-on work began to grow.
Driven by a deep belief in the basic human right to a safe and secure home, Alex chose a career in building. For her, construction isn’t just a job - it’s a way to create meaningful change and empower others through shelter and security. Over more than a decade in the trades, she’s honed her skills on the tools and earned her place in an industry still largely dominated by men.
But like many women in the field, Alex faced a consistent frustration: the lack of workwear that truly fit - both in form and in function. Tired of compromising on comfort, style, and practicality, she decided to make a change.
Partnering with Becca, Queens Workwear was born: a brand built to support, outfit, and empower hardworking women across Aotearoa.
